Size Reference Chart for Toy Dog Sewing Patterns

The sizes listed are for reference purposes only.

Since dogs come in many shapes, sizes, and mix of breeds, it’s important to ensure the measurements fall within the listed size range (preferably +/- 0.5” of the given measurements with stretchy fabric) to select the best-fitting sewing pattern.

Be sure to check:

  • Length: Measure from the base of the neck to the base of the tail. (Note: Length is less critical for fit compared to neck, front girth, and rear girth, but still important for the overall look.)
  • Neck: Measure around the neck to ensure a comfortable fit.
  • Front Girth: Measure around the chest, just behind the front legs.
  • Rear (Lower) Girth: Measure around the lower belly, just in front of the hind legs.

For the best fit, the Neck, Front Girth, and Rear Girth measurements are the most essential. Length is secondary.

These sewing patterns are designed for terrier breeds such as: Chihuahua, Yorkie, Poodle, Shihtsu, Maltese, Schnauzer, Jack Russell, Boston terrier, Beagle, Miniature Pinscher and other breeds that share similar body physique.
